Jesus Christ actor Adam Bond survives COVID-19

The British-American actor who portrayed Jesus Christ in the documentary drama "Finding Jesus" survived the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), and he shared his story with "Stand For Truth."

In an online interview GMA News and Public Affairs, Adam Bond said he was in Kuala Lumpur to play Jesus in a Malaysian comedy film when he was advised to get a test in March.

The test came out positive, and though he was asymptomatic, he had to stay in a COVID ward all by himself in a foreign country for three weeks.

There, he experienced the loneliness and depression endured by most patients who contract the virus.

"I called my mother here in Colorado, on a video chat, and I just burst into tears. It was a very emotional, very difficult time because I was alone in a country where I didn't know anyone," Adam shared.

So what did he do?

"I prayed."

He added, "It's funny how we pray in times of need, and we have to remind ourselves to pray in times of positivity and blessings and good times."

Adam would sometimes joke he was a "go-to Jesus Christ" after being chosen to play the Messiah several times over. In his 14-year career, he has played Jesus six times in various projects.

But job aside, Adam really is a devout Christian.

"I grew up as a Christian. I read the Bible cover-to-cover. I work for an organization called Mercy Ships. For six months, I sailed around central America providing medical aid and Christian evangelism to communities who reach out for help," he said.

After beating COVID-19, Adam said he learned a valuable lesson.

"I think it's really important that we remember that we're all human," Adam he said. "It doesn't matter: The color of our skin, the color of our hair, our eyes, male, female, transgender -— it doesn't matter. We are all human beings, and it's so important that love is all around we just need to remind ourselves that's what's going on, we are all in this together."

"It is so important to take those very, very original fundamentals of Christian teachings to be there for each other, to help your common man, to be the Good Samaritan, to help everyone else in these times," he added.
