Andrew Lloyd Webber participates in Oxford's COVID-19 vaccine trial

Andrew Lloyd Webber on Friday revealed that he participated in a vaccine trial for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

On Facebook, the legendary musical composer shared a photo of himself getting injected by a healthcare worker. The trial was one for the vaccine being developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford university.

"Just completed the Oxford Covid-19 vaccine trial. I’ll do anything to get theatres large and small open again and actors and musicians back to work," he wrote.

Webber is known for his musicals "The Phantom of the Opera," "Cats," and "Jesus Christ Superstar."

Last month, the first human trial of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine was announced to be a success.

The vaccine, called AZD1222, has been described by the World Health Organization's chief scientist as the leading candidate in a global race to halt a pandemic that has claimed 754,649 lives, as of Friday.

Oxford said it could be rolled out by the end of the year but there is no certainty that will happen. —JCB, GMA News
