The Miss Universe Philippines 2020 candidates can show viewers that reaching for their dreams is still possible amid the pandemic, the judges say.

During an exclusive interview with GMA News Online on Friday, preliminary judge and Miss Universe Philippines 2013 Ariella Arida said, “I guess now they have a bigger responsibility since everything really got frozen talaga, nag-stop talaga buhay natin for a while but now it’s through this pageant and the one who will win the crown, they can give hope to everybody, that we can all continue dreaming, na it doesn’t have to stop just because na-lockdown tayo, na dreams can still be reached in times like this.”

Miss Universe Philippines 2010 titleholder Venus Raj, another preliminary judge, also shared that the candidates can inspire other women to dream about their future even amid the pandemic.

“Their dreams continue even amidst the pandemic,” Venus said. “Their dreams don’t stop just because of their pandemic. Women out there who are thinking of their future ... when they see these ladies compete and having their dreams fulfilled, makikita nila na pwede pa rin pala kahit may pandemya. Tuloy parin pala pangarap ko kahit challenging nangyayari sakin ngayon.”
