Kuya Kim says he and Mang Tani were never rivals

Who knew Kuya Kim and Mang Tani were the tandem everyone needed?

In an online interview with the press Wednesday, new Kapuso Kim Atienza said people should refrain from pitting them against each other because they weren’t and would never be competitors.

“Hindi dapat paglabanin at hindi magkakalaban kailanman. Magsasama at magiging mas malakas together,” he said, smiling.

In fact, Kuya Kim also revealed that Nathaniel “Mang Tani” Cruz was his mentor who “taught me my weather.” As such, he won’t be replacing him on the “IMReady

Instead, he will be headlining a new segment about trivia and facts on “24 Oras.”

“Pwedeng magbigay (si Mang Tani) ng weather na galing sa scientist at pwede naman ako magbigay ng kaalaman mula sa isang Kuya Kim. Bagay ’di ba?” he said.

[Mang Tani can give information about the weather from the point of view of a scientist and I can give knowledge from a Kuya Kim. It's a match, right?]

Kuya Kim marked his debut as a Kapuso on “24 Oras” Monday, where Mang Tani also took the time to welcome him with a message fresh from Australia.

Apart from GMA’s flagship news program, Kuya Kim will also be appearing on “Mars Pa More” and a new show titled “Dapat Alam Mo” with Emil Sumangil and Patricia Tumulak. – RC, GMA News
