Sushmita Sen congratulates Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu: 'Thank you for representing India so beautifully'

Miss Universe 1994 Sushmita Sen warmly congratulated her compatriot Harnaaz Sandhu for winning India's third Miss Universe title.

On Instagram, Monday, the first beauty queen to win the title for India posted two photos of the newly crowned Miss Universe 2021

Sushmita, who won the crown when the pageant was held in the Philippines, penned a message which reflected her excitement for Harnaaz.

"Thank you for representing India so beautifully, for bringing back the Miss Universe Crown to India after 21 years (by a 21 year old, you were destined)," she said.

"May you enjoy every moment of learning & sharing this incredible global platform @missuniverse will provide you," she added. "May you reign supreme!"

India last won the Miss Universe crown in 2000, when Lara Dutta bagged the title in the pageant held in Cyprus.

Lara earlier tweeted her congratulations for Harnaaz.

"Welcome to the club! We've waited 21 long years for this! You make us so so proud! A billion dreams come true!" she said.
