4,000 Siargao residents affected by Odette receive relief goods from GMA Kapuso Foundation

A total of 4,000 residents affected by Typhoon Odette in General Luna, Siargao Island, have received relief goods from the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

According to a “24 Oras” Thursday, among the beneficiaries was Elena Lorozo and her family, whose house and things were heavily damaged by the typhoon. They earn a living from selling coconut wood.

“Mga gamit namin, putik putik na. Wala naman akong magawa kasi wala kaming pera pampagawa,” she said. “Hindi na kami kumakain. Tipid tipid muna kami. Nag-ulam na kami ng asin.”

However, despite what happened, Elena said she was grateful that her family was complete and they were all safe.

“Kahit ano, tatanggapin ko basta mabuhay lang yung mga anak ko at saka apo ko,” she said.

The relief operations initiated under the foundation’s Operation Bayanihan project was made possible with the help of the Philippine Army and Navy, which provided transportation.
