Months after being featured on KMJS, how have their lives changed?

How is Reymark?

One act of kindness really goes a long way.

Shortly after “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” (KMJS) featured 10-year-old Reymark from Sultan Kudarat who tirelessly plowed a two-hectare land with his horse, donations poured in for him and his family.

With the money, Reymark was able to return to school and open a bank account.

The young boy said he’s attending online classes for now due to the pandemic, but he had been learning a lot of things.

“Every month po may nagpapadala po sa akin ng mga kailangan po sa pag-aaral po,”  Reymark said.

[Every month, someone sends over things I need for my education.]

“Marunong na po ako ng kaunti ng English, magbasa,” he added.

[I already know a few English words and how to read.]

Aside from being able to study again, Reymark said that thanks to the donations, he and his family now had a house and car to call their own.

“Magtitinda po kami dito,” he said.

They also purchased three more horses to help out in their farm and built a fish pond.

“Hindi na po ako nag-aararo. Masaya po kasi kung ano gusto ko mabibili ko na po,” he said.

[I don’t have to till land anymore. I’m happy because I can now buy what I want.]

Although Reymark is celebrating a new chapter in his life, he is also sad that his partner in the field, his horse Rabanos, has passed away.

“Masakit rin po kasi si Rabanos ’yun po ’yung nag-ahon po sa akin sa hirap,” he said.

To share his blessings, Reymark gave away some of the donations he had received to his neighbors in Sultan Kudarat.

“Nagpapasalamat po ako kay Ma’am Jessica kundi dahil sa kanya hindi po ako nakaunlad sa hirap. Sa ating mga OFW diyan, salamat po sa nagpadala sa akin ng pera. Promise, pagbubutihin ko po ang aking pag-aaral po,” he said.

[I thank Ma’am Jessica because if it weren’t for her, I won’t be able to rise out of poverty. To our OFWs, thank you for sending me money. I promise to do well in my studies.]

Yumi and Cluey’s successful operation

Shortly after “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” (KMJS) featured Yumi, a 12-year-old girl in Palawan who suffered from overgrown breasts weighing around 6 kg, another 10-year-old girl with the same condition came forward to share her experience.

Yumi and Cluey were diagnosed with juvenile gigantomastia.

The Philippine General Hospital promised to shoulder the costs of their operation.

After more than 12 hours, their surgeries were a success!

“So ang ginawang operasyon doon is reduction mastectomy,” said PGH’s Dr. Esther Sanguil.

“Tinanggalan natin ’yung majority of the breast. Nag-iwan lang tayo nung pinakatamang size para dun sa edad nila. So malaki siyang reconstruction.”

[The operation we did was reduction mastectomy. We removed majority of the breast and left only the right size for her age, so it’s a big reconstruction procedure.]

According to Sanguil, there’s only a small chance that the breasts will enlarge again.

Although Yumi said she still felt some pain in her chest area due to the surgery, her wounds were healing and she expressed her utmost gratitude for her wish come true.

“Masaya kasi natupad na ’yung wish ni Mama na maging okay na ako. Si Lord na po ’yung bahalang magbalik po ng mga biyayang binigay ninyo po sa akin,” she said.

[I’m happy because I made my mom’s wish come true that I’ll be okay. The Lord will return to you the blessings you gave me.]

“Wala na po akong mabigat na dinadala. Hindi na po kayo mahihirapang alagaan ako,” Cluey shared.
