Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Scarlet Snow Belo lead back-to-school campaign

Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Scarlet Snow Belo are leading a campaign aimed to help kids returning to school.

The World Vision Philippines ambassadors invited their followers to help provide children with learning kits.

“For just P1,000, [two] kids will receive a new learning kit,” Jasmine said on Instagram.

“Iba din kapag kumpleto ang mga basic essentials. I'm sure you all remember the feeling of getting new sets of school (or now office/work) supplies tapos excited to use it! I believe that having the basic necessities improves the way we engage and learn,” she added.

She also said that she's glad to be joined by Scarlet, the daughter of celebrity doctors Hayden Kho and Vicki Belo.

On her Instagram page, Scarlet said she learned that only about 20% of Filipino children know how to read.

“That means they can’t enjoy the many beautiful books written. More importantly, it means they will have a very challenging future," she said.

Scarlet likewise promoted the action to help provide educational materials to the students. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA News
