Catriona Gray, Nicole Cordoves set record straight: Binibining Pilipinas 2022 winners announced correctly

Amid rumors about the results of Binibining Pilipinas 2022, Catriona Gray and Nicole Cordoves set the record straight about the announcement during the coronation night.

Some netizens speculated that they made a mistake after a commotion transpired just before the new Bb. Pilipinas International was named. Catriona and Nicole, the hosts, were seen conversing with officials about the results.

In separate Instagram posts, the Miss Universe 2018 and Bb. Pilipinas Grand International 2016 clarified what happened during the delay.

"As the hosts of last night's Binibining Pilipinas 2022, we announced the winners accordingly based on the titles printed on the cards as these were handed over by SGV & Co., partner and representative, Mr. Ocho," their statement read.

"As a member of the overseeing committee during the deliberations, Mr. Ocho later rechecked the cards and confirmed that the results previously announced were correct, which became the decisive factor in moving forward with the announcement."

As pageant alumni themselves, Catriona and Nicole said they would immediately put things in order if any of what happened was wrong.

"A s former candidates ourselves, we understand what the girls go through and would, therefore—without a second thought—correct any errors, if any were made," the post further read.

"But as already explained, SGV & Co. partner and representative Mr. Ocho himself confirmed the validity of the results," it added.

Towards the end of their posts, the beauty queens took the time to express their support for the new set of Binibining Pilipinas 2022 queens.

"Let's celebrate our Queens who are wearing their rightful crowns," Catriona wrote. "Congratulations to our new [Binibining Pilipinas] queens! I'm so excited to witness your journeys and I know you will make our country proud!"

"Congratulations to our new queens! Your reign may not always be as smooth-sailing, but that’s what makes Binibinis special—we learn to command the waves," Nicole wrote.

Nicole Borromeo of Cebu was crowned Bb. Pilipinas International 2022 on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.
