Soldier proposes to combat medic girlfriend

The jungles of Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat bore witness to a scene right out of "Descendants of the Sun" when a soldier got down on one knee to propose to his combat medic girlfriend during patrol operations.

Ivan Mayrina's report for "24 Oras" on Tuesday radioman Corporal Denemer Albani got down on one knee to propose, which Private Christine Porcadilla accepted with an eager "Yes, Sergeant."

Being two duty-bound members of the Special Reaction Platoon in the 33rd Infantry Makabayan Battalion, the couple also had to have the signed permission of their commander.

Lieutenant Colonel Harold Cabunoc reminded them that their home life was not the battlefield.

"Kailangan magrerespetuhan tayo. Wala nang ranggo-ranggo pagdating sa bahay. Minsan 'yung asawa ang magiging boss, noh?" Cabunoc said.

"Mayroon kayong sapat na pondo, dodoblado ang inyong sweldo, at ipapaaabot sa inyong mga magulang ang aking congratulations," the commander added, before inking their official permit to marry. —Margaret Claire Layug/JST, GMA News
