4 out of 5 Pinoys choose brains over looks in finding love —SWS

There is more to love than meets the eye.

While looks can be appealing at first glance, many Pinoys prioritize intelligence over physical appearances when it comes to love.

These were the results of the Fourth Quarter 2019 survey conducted by the Social Weather Station (SWS) which was released on the Day of Hearts this year.

Four out of five Filipinos, or a whopping 81 percent, said that they were attracted to a person's brains than his or her body.

This was the answer of the majority when they were asked about their preferences in light of the upcoming Valentine's Day.

The findings are similar to those from December 2002, when 81 % percent of Pinoys chose the same.

The SWS, which conducted its recent survey from December 13 to 15, reported that more women preferred intellectual ability over looks.

"Eighty-three percent of women are more attracted to a person’s brains than body, slightly higher than the 78% among men," the SWS said.

"Among women, the proportion of those who prefer brains over body is highest among women with live-in partner at 89%, followed by single women at 82%, and married women at 81%," it added.

Two other questions about love were also asked to the respondents.

The second question revolved around choosing between money, health or love.

Findings showed that more women chose health over love and money.

The difference was not that huge as 72 percent of women chose this option, which was higher by 5 percent than men.

The third question was about the extent to which the respondents were happy in their love life.

Results showed that 60 percent of men attested to being "very happy" with their love life, compared to 49 percent of women who chose the same.

The SWS survey was conducted using face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adults, aged 18 years old and above.

Three hundred respondents from Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao were interviewed.  The margins of errors are as follows: ±3% for national percentages, and ±6% each for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao).

The SWS further noted that the three questions related to romance were not commissioned. —LDF, GMA News
