Although it's only been a little over a week since Luane Dy gave birth to her son Jose Christiano, she said it has already changed her concept of self-love.

"My concept of self-love before was typical and quite trivial having only to satisfy myself with things that I’m fond of," Luane told GMA News Online.

"Now, it has gone deeper. I feel 'selfless' in that concept of love, whenever I channel that energy toward my son. In that manner, 'self-love' transcends back to me 10-fold."

The Kapuso host, who only welcomed Baby Christ on April 30 said the word "surreal" has never been more appropriate to describe how she's feeling now that she is a mother.

"I’ve always loved kids, so yes, I’ve always wanted to have my own. And now that he‘s here, I am overjoyed," she said. "I feel a different kind of love that’s pouring over me, a stronger, more distinct love towards my son."

Luane said she has always heard of the saying that being a mother is the greatest job in the world and now that she's one, "I see the truth in that more and more each day."

"At first, I was intimidated. But as the days go by, that feeling turned into delight and fulfillment," she added.

The "Unang Hirit" host said motherhood has changed her for the better.

"I see life in a different perspective. A more relevant and purposeful viewpoint," she said.

Baby Christ was born in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic and so Luane said she's extra cautious when it comes to health issues.

"I just make sure that we are kept safe at home without any outside elements that could possibly harm us," she said.

Having a newborn son in the midst of a pandemic is no easy situation, but Luane keeps herself strong thinking about his son's future.

"I draw all my strength from my son knowing that I have to make a brighter future for him," she said.

When asked for advice to her fellow new moms she said, "Just take it all in and enjoy the moment. No amount of worry or uncertainty can encompass the love you will have once you look at your child’s face."

In an interview on Unang Hirit, Luane's fiance Carlo Gonzales dedicated a heartfelt message to the mother of his child.

"Happy mother’s day for the first time, and thank you sa regalo na hatid mo...At this time na ganito 'yung sitwasyon natin dito, nairaos natin, and bilib ako sayo," he said.
