The woman behind PAL's in-flight voice reveals her mom did the same in the '90s

The woman behind the soothing in-flight voice in Philippine Airlines has revealed that her mother also did the same back in the 90's.

On Instagram, Inka Magnaye posted a video where she and her mom Lindy Pellicer were both reciting the script for PAL's in-flight reminders.

In the caption of her post, she shared the story on what happened during the first day of her recordings for PAL.

Upon arriving at the recording studio in Quezon City, she gave the clients a fun fact before they started.

"Did you know that my mom was the in-flight voice over for Philippine Airlines back in the 90s?" she told them and they all gasped in surprise.

Inka said her clients were amazed because she was chosen from a blind audition where several women had sent in their voice overs.

"It made sense because my mom was the sound of their brand, and I sound like my mom," she said.

Because their voices are similar, Inka said this is not her first time that she and her mother worked for the same clients.

"We’ve done work for skin care products where my mom’s voice was used for products aimed at older women, and my voice was used for the younger line. Same goes for banks and telcos," she said. "This probably won’t be the last brand either."

Inka shared the story on Mother's Day to recognize her mom Lindy for being her  one of her "biggest mentors" in her voice over career.

"I learn from her every day. Even just doing this video with her, I learned so much just by listening to her change the pace, style, and words she'd emphasize."

Inka said her mom Lindy, Pinky Aseron, and the late Lily Nichols were just some of the in-flight voice overs for PAL.

She said all three of them and herself trained under 99.5RT. —Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/MGP, GMA News
