‘HIS GREAT LOVE’

Husband’s planned anniversary surprise for wife carried out by daughter after his death

“P.S. I Love You” wasn’t just made for the movies.

A loving husband made sure that “his great love” felt all of his devotion on their 25th anniversary even after he’s gone.

According to his daughter, Aly Mendoza, she received 3 weeks ago a scheduled email from her dad, Bing, who died 10 months ago.

“Two days after I saw the notification, I decided to open the email and couldn’t believe what I was reading. My dad’s love for my mom IS definitely immeasurable,” Aly shared on a Facebook post on Wednesday.

In the email, the father revealed that he had planned everything before he passed away, and instructed his only child to help him out in case he was no longer around when the day came.

“I am sending this to you in the off chance that I’m not in my right mind or worse, gone. I hope not,” her dad wrote.

He told Aly that he had paid a florist to deliver flowers for her mom on her birthday, Valentine’s Day, and their anniversary in the coming years ahead.

Bing also instructed Aly to look for decorations because he knew how much his wife loved to take photos.

He even asked Aly to reserve a table in a restaurant for the three of them on their anniversary.

“Hopefully I’ll be able to drive already this time next year. Otherwise, you will so PRACTICE,” he told Aly.

“The email also contained a letter that he wrote for my mom which had all the words she needed to hear from him to be okay,” Aly shared.

“He literally thought of everything to make his great love feel all his love. They were supposed to celebrate their 25th silver wedding anniversary together today but God had other plans,” she added.

Aly told GMA News Online that her father passed away due to chronic kidney and heart diseases.

He died two days before Aly’s birthday and two days after her mom’s birthday.

Set on fulfilling her dad’s wishes, Aly, with some help, began setting up for the surprise at 11 p.m. and finished at almost 6 a.m, just in time for her mom to wake up.

“As soon as she saw the flowers, she made a very faint smile then started crying,” said Aly.

“Pink and white roses talaga kasi favorite niya because white roses are very significant in how their relationship started and how they ended up together, so she just knew that they were from my dad.”

Her mother met her father through mutual friends. Back then, she wasn’t sure whom to choose between Bing and another suitor. She told herself whoever would give her white flowers would be the one. One day, Bing showed up with white flowers on hand.

“Though I lack sleep, the joy I saw in my mom’s face made everything worth it. Of course my mom cried because she misses the love of her life but I could see how happy everything made her because she knew that everything was planned by my dad,” Aly said.

The two are no longer physically together, but Aly realized that not even death could stop her dad from loving her mom and “showing her how much she meant to him.”

“Happy 25th silver wedding anniversary Mamu and Baba! I love you both forever and always,” Aly said. – RC, GMA News
