Mikael says Megan's cooking skills shouldn't be a measure on how she is as a wife

On the latest episode of "Behind Relationship Goals," Megan Young and Mikael Daez discussed gender stereotypes in a marriage.

In the nearly hour-long podcast, Mikael and Megan said it has been instilled in most households that women are the homemakers and men are the breadwinners.

But the Kapuso couple said their situation is not like that. They both grew up in a household where both parents are working and so they both said that they don't necessarily follow that gender role stereotypes.

Much like their non-traditional wedding, the newlyweds prefer to do things that work for them.

The Miss World 2013 queen said she would sometimes get comments telling her that she wouldn't be a good wife because she doesn't know how to cook.

"Do you think I'm not a good wife because I don't know how to cook for you?" Megan asked Mikael.

Mikael answered, "No, of course not. I don't base how good of a wife you are on the skills that you have."

According to Mikael, "it doesn't matter what skills you have or what skills you lack."

"The skills you have if you want to improve [them] or the skills you want to learn? For me that's the journey I want to be on with you," Mikael told Megan.

Megan said putting stigma on women to become homemakers of the household is too much pressure.

"Grabe naman 'yung pressure na binibigay niyo sa women these days when it comes to marriage," she quipped.

"To me, what I see as important in my relationship with Mikael is our trust with each other and our communication with each other," Megan said.

Mikael agreed and said Megan doesn't have to be anything that she's not because they know their roles in each other's lives.

"She doesn't need to be like this or like that. We know what our relationship is about. Strengths and weaknesses and we know our roles in each other's lives," Mikael said.
