Megan and Mikael reveal a relationship 'rough patch,' the 'closest' they've been to breaking up

Megan Young and Mikael Daez in their latest podcast episode shared having gone through a "rough patch" in their relationship.

According to the married couple, it was the closest to a break up they've been in their 10-year relationship.

The Kapuso couple revealed it was when Megan became "too clingy," making their relationship her whole world.

"She's sacrificing herself, her own personal growth for our relationship, and that didn't sit well with me," Mikael said. "I wanted Bonezy to grow individually."

According to Mikael, Megan was putting all her energy towards their relationship. He recalled a time when he went to the gym and Megan did nothing but wait for him in one place.

Megan admitted that "it also came to a point that I wasn't seeing my friends, I wasn't hanging with my family enough, I wasn't even doing things for myself."

At that point of their relationship, Mikael admitted he couldn't see Megan as a person he wanted to be with.

"I saw Bonezy as someone in the future who I didn't want to be with, because she wasn't growing independently or as an individual," Mikael said.

"That was the closest of us breaking up," he added.

Megan said the two of them eventually got over this rough patch, with a lot of crying and a lot of confusion on her part.

"He couldn't see me as the Megan that he saw when we were dating," she said.

Mikael continued and said that in a relationship there are three entities.

"There are two individuals, that's you and me and then the relationship. I see those things as three separate entities and anytime that you lose sight of taking care of any one of those entities, then you kind of parang ruin the balance," Mikael said.

The couple talked about it, talked to friends and to one another. They argued and fought and had sad moments all through that rough patch.

"During the lowest of our lows, I think being able to converse and persevere, that's our way of keeping the fire burning," Mikael said. — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
