Pinay finds forever with foreigner after matching on dating app

As she was searching for love, a Pinay found her forever with a foreigner after matching on a dating app.

According to a “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” episode on Sunday, 28-year-old Marnie Casimbon was bullied about her appearance.

“Baboy … sabi nila lilitsunin, mataba (Pig … they said they’d roast me, I’m fat),” she said. “

She recalled: “Dati, meron akong crush, magka-chat kami. Tapos ‘yun pala, ’yung crush niya ’yung kasama ko. Kasi payat. Nakakawala ng self-confidence (I had a crush on someone and we would chat. It turns out that he had a crush on my colleague because she’s skinny. It really hit my self-confidence).”

However, things changed when Marnie went to the United States. She had met someone on a dating app, Terry.

Terry Hollie, 22, said: “I did not know what to go off when I saw her pictures. My impression for her was like maybe she is catfishing.”

He added: “She is very genuine. We had like a phone conversation and it was a nice talk.”

After a week of talking on the phone, Terry invited Marnie out.

Marnie admitted she was reluctant at first but despite her hesitation, Terry assured her she didn’t need to dress up nor put on makeup. He really just wanted to see her in person.

When they finally met in real life, Terry said he actually felt nervous and “kilig.”

“Sabi niya, ‘You’re beautiful the way you are.’ May kilig na siyempre pag nakatanggap ka ng compliment sa guwapo (He said, ‘You’re beautiful the way you are.’ Of course I was thrilled to get a compliment like that from a handsome guy).”

Just after a month, their relationship became official. Marnie said Terry had already introduced her to his parents, who had no qualms about her.

“We were talking about our future plans. It started to become real, I really felt that I love her,” Terry said.

The couple finally tied the knot last year.

But when their photos went viral, mean comments started pouring in. However, the couple said it only made their love stronger.

What worried Marnie, however, was the son she left behind in the Philippines.

Marnie said a former boyfriend got her pregnant when she was 18 years old.

“Lumaki siya na kilala naman niya ko as a mom pero I think, kulang ’yung connection (He grew up knowing me as a mom but I think we lack connection),” Marnie shared.

Her son Tristan, for his part, is upset about their distance. “Kasi hindi ko po kasi siya nakakasama. Hindi po kami masyadong nag-uusap (Because we don’t spend time together. We don’t get to talk as much).”

Meanwhile, Terry has accepted Marnie’s past wholeheartedly. Last year, he and Marnie visited her hometown in Quezon.

That’s when he met Tristan for the first time.

“I was so happy. It was so great to finally meet him. I actually love taking him to school,” he said.

Marnie shared that they’re making efforts to bring Tristan to the United States where they could be reunited.

The couple also said they planned to go back to the Philippines for their church wedding once the pandemic is over.

“I told her I wanna retire there. We don’t have to be stressed all the time. I always love using mahal kita. I always love using that for Marnie,” Terry said.

Despite all the insults she heard growing up, Marnie said she finally found someone who would love her wholeheartedly.

“I always love waking up to you and going to bed knowing that you’re by my side. I want to grow old with you. Pinapangako ng to stay always because I cannot lose you,” Terry said. — Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
