Man, 67, walks from Alabang to Laguna in search of missing sister, 69, with mental disorder

A 67-year-old man has walked from Alabang to Laguna in search of his missing 69-year-old sister who has a mental disorder.

According to Oscar Oida’s report on “24 Oras” Thursday, Jim Huerto went viral after netizen Miguel Aumentado found him walking on the streets and giving out flyers.

“Sobrang layo ng nilalakad ni Tatay tapos sa edad niya na dapat nagpapahinga na, nagagawa pa rin niya maghanap,” Miguel said.

Tatay Jim said he didn’t know how far he had walked; he just set out in the hopes of finding his sister, who had been missing for more than two months.

His sister, Daisy, went out of their house in Pasay City on Aug. 25. When they realized she was missing, Tatay Jim was at his home in Cavite.

“Wala pa rin akong idea paano makapunta rito para tumulong sa paghahanap,” he said. “Nito na nga lang nung bumaba ang pandemic saka lang ako nakarating ako sa Pasay.”

Tatay Jim said his sister had a mental problem, but she could hold a conversation. “Kaya nakakausap naman po siya, nailabas namin nga ’to dahil medyo gumagaling na siya,” he said.

“Matanda na siya. Di namin alam pano siya kumakain, paano na siya natutulog. Di na rin kami makatulog. Alam ko maduming-madumi na siya mula umalis na hindi na kilala. Kaya sabi ko sa mga riders kung sakali ma-ispatan, lapitan, kunan ng picture. ’Yun nalang matutulong sa ’kin,” the brother added.

In a Facebook post on Thursday night, however, Miguel shared that Daisy had already been found.

“Isipin mo ilang araw lang ’yung post ko, nakita na agad [si] nanay. Maraming salamat Papa God,” he wrote, adding screen shots of his conversation with a woman named Kim Huerto, who said she was Tatay Jim’s daughter.

In their messages, Kim thanked Miguel for posting about her aunt. “Nakita na po tita ko, God bless po!” she told Miguel. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
