Gov’t urged to create disaster management plans for animals

Pawssion Project Foundation has urged the government to create disaster management plans for animals.

As an aftermath of Typhoon “Ulysses,” which brought about floods and strong winds Wednesday night,  pets were found either buried in mud or stranded on rooftops.

“We are calling out towards the PH government to kindly create a disaster plan for stranded animals,” the animal rights organization wrote in an Instagram post on Friday.

“This is an appeal to, not just the PH government, but also to all pet owners. Please, please come up with emergency plans for your furry friends,” it added.

“If you are with us, we encourage you to tap people in power to create disaster plans for the voiceless,” the group said.

“We’ll do much better as a nation if we start to think more about others, including those who cannot speak for themselves.”

Aside from Pawssion Project Foundation, the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) also spoke up earlier today urging the public to unchain their pets during disasters. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
