Mikael Daez on his relationship with Megan Young through 2020's lockdown: 'It's been a year of growth'

Mikael Daez said 2020 has been a year of growth for him and his relationship with Megan Young.

Shortly after the two got married, the country was placed on lockdown, allowing them to stay with each other throughout the quarantine. According to Mikael, the situation enabled him to see his wife in a different light.

"For me and Megan, it's been a year of growth. To be honest, you get to know your partner — Megan specifically — in a different light because it's a different situation," Mikael told the press in an interview for the return of his GMA-7 teleserye "Love of My Life."

"It's a situation all of us have never been in. It's the first pandemic of our lives; it's the first lockdown ever. So we've gotten to know each other and it's nice to know that we were able to adjust and adapt," he added.

Mikael said there have been "new achievements and new aspects of our relationships because of the challenge of 2020 presented so yeah."

"We're still together, we're still married pa naman, status update," he joked.

Mikael told GMA News Online that "a huge thing" he discovered about Megan was her recent video edit, which she did all by herself.

"Two days ago, Megan came up with her own edit. And I think prior to this year, it was always me editing all the video podcasts, vlogs, IGTV, Instagram Stories, it was all me," Mikael narrated.

"Late last year, I [asked] Bonezy to help me out. 'Ikaw yung nag-film school, so let's try to team up and let's try to work on this together.' And two days ago, Bonezy Megan showed me an edit and it blew me away. I told her it was amazing," he added.

According to Mikael, Megan had to relearn everything. "She completely forgot how to do it na she had to relearn everything. And it was not easy. But ang galing ng edit niya. Abangan niyo yan. That's one huge thing for me," Mikael said, adding viewers will be able to see it in a coming upload.

"Love of My Life" is set to return airing on GMA-7 on December 28, Monday replacing "Descendants of the Sun."

Mikael and Megan surprised the world when they tied the knot last January unannounced.
