Queen Elizabeth marks 95th birthday, thanks supporters following death of Prince Philip

Queen Elizabeth II marked her 95th birthday with a message of thanks to people all over the world who showed support for their family following the death of Prince Philip.

“I have, on the occasion of my 95th birthday today, received many messages of good wishes, which I very much appreciate,” read her message shared on the royal family’s social media accounts Wednesday.

“While as a family we are in a period of great sadness, it has been a comfort to us all to see and to hear the tributes paid to my husband,” she said.

According to the Queen, she and her family “have been deeply touched” by all the support and kindness shown to them in the past few days.

“(We) continue to be reminded that Philip had such an extraordinary impact on countless people throughout his life.”

Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, died on April 9 and was laid to rest on Sunday. – Franchesca Viernes/RC, GMA News
