Kakie Pangilinan pens touching tribute to PNoy

Kakie Pangilinan penned a touching tribute to former President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III following his death on Thursday.

On Instagram, the eldest daughter of Sharon Cuneta and Sen. Francis Pangilinan shared a black and white throwback photo of her and Aquino.

In the caption, Kakie opened up on her personal relationship with the former president, a close political ally of her father.

"I always had too many questions. Thankfully, he likewise had far too much kindness and solemn grace," she said. "He'd indulge me and my (surely) frivolous thoughts without ever making me feel like they were invaluable or unimportant."

"I knew him enough to notice he was often sad of eye," she added.

With Aquino's death, Kakie said she is grieving for "a man whose integrity enabled him to recognize his own imperfections."

She also said the former president understood the value of criticism and did not shy away from it.

"Thank you for being so generous with your time. Thank you for the vinyls, for single-handedly encouraging my love for Bowie. Thank you for the Ziggy Stardust. And the Carly Simon. And the Elton John. And for the spare Coca-Cola," she said.

Kakie said watching the former president and learning about his work while growing up led her to "bigger" and "at times frustrated" questions, but she did not get the chance to ask all of them.

"I am just achingly sorry that several, big-girl questions went unasked. God bless your family, and you, Mr. President."

Kakie's mother, Sharon, reposted the tribute on her on Instagram account, saying that her daughter's words captured the feelings of their whole family on the loss.

"It is such a sad time for our country, having lost such a dedicated and true public servant who made the Philippines shine in the eyes of the world, and kept the light and fire of hope burning," the Megastar said.

"Once again, our deepest condolences to his family, his people, and (hopefully not forever) to Democracy."

Aquino was pronounced dead at 6:30 am on Thursday due to renal disease secondary to diabetes. He was 61 years old.

His remains have been cremated and he will be buried at the Manila Memorial Cemetery on Saturday.
