Kylie Padilla, Ruru Madrid reveal they distanced from each other on ‘Encantadia’ in respect to then partners

Though their on-screen chemistry was undeniable, Kylie Padilla and Ruru Madrid admitted that they distanced themselves from each other while taping “Encantadia.”

On the first episode of the actor’s “What #RU made of?” vlog series, Ruru said he tried to be closer to Kylie off-cam. However, the actress was aloof to him.

“Inaamin ko naman na mali naman talaga ’yon, kung paano ako before. Kailangan ko lang dumistansya,” Kylie said. “Dumistansya talaga ako nung time na ’yon.”

“Kailangan kong umiwas para walang mag-selos. Syempre respect na lang. Natatakot na ’ko. Ayoko ng gulo both sides,” she added. “Kailangan lang mag-ingat in respect to other people.”

To which, Ruru said he completely understood because they both had partners then. Kylie was with Aljur Abrenica, while Ruru had “someone.”

“Naiintindihan ko nung mga panahon na ’yon,” he said.

“Ang daming restrictions sa ating dalawa. Kahit sobrang effective sa TV, off-cam, I’m not saying na ’di tayo nag-uusap, pero merong wall lagi,” he added.

“Feeling ko, somehow, naapektuhan,” said Ruru. “Malaking bagay na kapag merong someone, tina-try natin pigilan sarili natin [mag-usap] lalo na baka may mag-selos, which is understandable.”

Nevertheless, the two said they were thankful to each other for helping each other grow career-wise. In fact, Ruru said he felt sad when Kylie had to leave the show due to her first pregnancy.

Likewise, Kylie said she was also saddened by what she had to do despite the happiness at being a mother.

“Happy naman ako kasi gusto kong magka-baby talaga,” she said. “’Yung timing lang talaga kasi gusto ko sana tapusin kasi mahal na mahal ko na ‘Encantadia’ no’n.”

“It was unplanned but I wanted the baby,” she added. “Gusto ko talaga ng family. It just so happened na ’yung timing, medyo napabilis.”

In any case, the two said they were super game if ever another “Encantadia” remake would be in the works. They will still be happy to reprise their roles as Amihan and Ybrahim.

Kylie has two children with now estranged husband Aljur. They tied the knot in 2018 and confirmed their split in 2021. They are now in a co-parenting setup. – Franchesca Viernes/RC, GMA News
