April Boy's son JC Regino turns emotional as he talks about his late dad and music career

JC Regino, the son of April Boy, is following in his dad’s footsteps as a musician.

Following his virtual contract signing with GMA Music, GMA News Online asked what JC thinks his late father would tell him now that he made this huge career step.

“Ay sigurado po ang sasabihin niya po sa ‘kin, ‘Anak, I’m so proud of you,'” JC answered, before tearing up.

JC added that going into music was one of the last conversations they had.

When he was in the US to work, JC remembered telling April Boy before he passed, “Sige po, dad. Tutuloy ko po yung pagkanta.”

“Pangarap niya po sa ‘kin na bumalik sa musika,” he added. “Kasi bonding kami laging gumawa ng kanta.”

JC also said that their father-son relationship is similar to being best friends.

“Actually, dapat kaming dalawa pa ang babalik,” he said. “Kasi sabi niya, walang iwanan sa pagkanta. Para daw kaming Batman and Robin.”

"Siguro kung nakikita niya po ngayon na nandito na po ulit ako, na I’m back, siguro pati po siya umiiyak [and say] ‘congratulations anak, I’m happy for you. Sobrang saya ko para sa ‘yo. Proud ako sa ‘yo anak, pagpatuloy mo yan. Sa lahat ng gagawin mo anak, galingan mo,'" he added.

April Boy Regino passed away in 2020 following various health complications.
