Mike Enriquez's wife Baby shares his last wish: 'Huwag akong iiyak'

Mike Enriquez's wife of 46 years, Baby Enriquez, paid an emotional tribute to the late broadcaster during his funeral mass on Sunday.

As seen in Jonathan Andal's report on "24 Oras Weekend," Mike's family, friends, and colleagues gathered to celebrate his life before his burial ceremony.

Baby spoke about her husband fondly, including his last wish for her.

"Ang kabilin-bilinan sa 'kin ni Mike, huwag akong iiyak. 'Yan lang ang bilin niyan," she said.

She said they had already been planning for their 50th anniversary, but she accepted that God has other plans for them.

Looking back on their wedding vows, she could not help but shed some tears.

"'Til death do us part," she said, sobbing.

"Excuse me... excuse me po," she added, quipping about her husband's iconic line.

She also thanked their family and friends for supporting her through the "most difficult moment" in her life.

Mike was laid to rest at the Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City. His funeral procession passed by his house in White Plains so his dogs, Booma and Mickey, can say goodbye.

He was sent off with his favorite songs, like "Africa," "Over the Rainbow," and "You've Got a Friend" playing throughout the procession.

Mike passed away on Tuesday after battling a kidney disease. He took a medical leave in 2021 to get a kidney transplant and returned to work in time for the 2022 elections.

He was a long-time anchor of GMA's flagship newscast "24 Oras" and hosted GMA Public Affairs program "Imbestigador."
