Gabbi Garcia and Khalil Ramos on ‘7-year itch’ belief: ‘We’re not afraid nor anticipating it would happen’

By GMA Integrated News

Seven years into their relationship, Gabbi Garcia and Khalil Ramos are not afraid of the so-called “seven-year itch," said to cause break ups between couples who reach their seventh year together.

On Wednesday’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” the Sparkle couple said they were even waiting for the three-year itch, when they reached the mark.

“We were waiting for it, ‘Nasa’n ‘yung itch?’ Wala naman,” Gabbi said.

Khalil continued, “Solid na solid kasi tayo nung third year.”

Gabbi agreed, saying they were just happy.

“And ngayong seven years, we’re not afraid nor anticipating it would happen. Wala, we just live our lives normally and ang laki kasi ng tiwala namin sa isa’t-isa. And whenever people would tell us na, ‘Uy, ‘wag kayong magbre-break ha?’ Parang kami, parang, ‘We’re fine!’” the actress said.

According to Khalil, they were saddened by the recent breakup announcements from other showbiz couples "because we know how much effort, how much time it takes to build a long relationship."

"So gets namin at we feel the pain if you lose that relationship that you cherish the most," he adds.

"Right now, I guess, it’s important kasi talaga that you’re very aware that at this point, seven years in, it’s really a journey of being more understanding towards your partner,” he said.

Gabbi likewise said that couples just have to accept that there are things that they might not agree on, but “it’s a choice.”

“Every day is a choice. I feel like that’s such an important aspect of our relationship, we excite each other all the time with our travels, with our food trip, conversations. I would never get bored with Khalil,” she said.

Gabbi and Khalil celebrated their seventh anniversary last month.

In an August 2023 episode of "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," Khalil revealed he is 100% sure about marrying Gabbi. "When we started our relationship, we really intended for the relationship to last," Khalil told the King of Talk.

"We're really in it for the long run at napag-uusapan namin 'yun especially now, six years down the line," he added. "We're not getting any younger, and eventually, we do need to settle down," he said.

On Gabbi's 25th birthday last year, Khalil thanked the actress for “sharing a life" with him.

Gabbi recently topbilled "Unbreak My Heart," the historic collaboration between GMA Network, ABS-CBN, and Viu Philippines. She starred alongside Jodi Sta. Maria, Joshua Garcia, and Richard Yap.

Meanwhile, Khalil starred in the live musical "Tick, Tick... Boom." Gabbi has expressed her full support for him in the role.
