When Mezza Norte took down its tents this year on March 16 at UP-Ayala Technohub, the big question on every foodie's mind was "where are you guys moving?"

The night food market, after all, was the only one in Quezon City. The closest one after that was the Salcedo Market in Makati, with the rest of them thriving down south, far from suburb-dwelling food enthusiasts.

On Friday, May 3, Mezza Norte made its long-awaited comeback and pitches its tents again, this time in Trinoma.

"We were asked [by Ayala] to serve a bigger market," TV personality and Mercato Central Group co-owner RJ Ledesma told GMA News Online. "[Mezza Norte] still showcases the same favorite offerings for the foodies".

True enough, Mochiko and Merry Moo were serving cold desserts that hit the right spot for summer on the first night, while Chef Anton's and Roasterrific were chopping roast meat like there was no tomorrow. Carlo's Kitchen and Manila Q also kept the crunchy pork coming.

With almost 60 stalls to choose from, it's hard for food trippers to sample all the meals available in just one night. That means another visit to Mezza Norte is usually in order.

Finding seats at Mezza Norte can be hard, however. Back at UP-Ayala Technohub, foodies could just sit on one of the steps that were scattered throughout the compound, but there's no such alternative at Trinoma.

Good thing bringing home food is always an option. Most stalls use environment-friendly packaging, and a little tape on the lid is more than enough to keep your precious purchase safe until you get home.

Like a sorely missed friend who always whips up good food for everyone, Mezza Norte's comeback is very much a welcome event. Add the perfect food trip companion to sample everything with, through thick crowds and eating on your feet, and you'll have an amazing time. – KDM, GMA News

Mezza Norte is open 4 p.m. to 3 a.m. every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
