Nigella Lawson wants to perfect own version of Filipino adobo

Even British culinary icon and TV host Nigella Lawson has fallen in love with Filipino cooking.

In an interview with Lyn Ching in Unang Balita on Tuesday, Lawson sang praises for Filipino dishes, particularly pork adobo.

"The one dish that I'm going to be concentrating on perfecting when I get home is pork adobo," Lawson said.

She added that she has had four different kinds of adobo in the duration of her visit.

The renowned food personality also tried sinigang, leche flan, bagoong, and sisig.

"I have to say the sisig is great. It's quite interesting, your climate is very different from my climate, but actually it would suit the British climate quite well too," Lawson said.

Lawson said she was also fond of calamansi, to the point where she has started to hoard them because they don't grow in her hometown.

"The reason why I've been trying to get as many calamansi as possible is cause we don't get those in the UK, so that would be trying to approximate that taste, but there is something particularly special about that," she said.

Asked to pick a Filipino dish she would be telling people about, Lawson said she would rather not choose just one.

"I'm someone who likes to expand my horizons, to expand pleasure, it would seem a very sad life when I could only talk about one dish," Lawson said. —Jessica Bartolome/NB, GMA News
