Kara David climbs own roof to get malunggay for signature sinampalukang manok

Sinampalukang manok sounds like the perfect dish for this rainy weather, doesn't it? Luckily, Kara David was willing to share her own recipe for it.

In fact, she even climbed her own roof just to get the right ingredient for her dish!

During the live "ECQusina" episode on Friday, Kara climbed the roof to get some of her neighbor's malunggay which she'll use to make the dish.

Aside from malunggay, here are the other ingredients you'll need:

  • chicken
  • sampalok or tamarind
  • fish sauce
  • ginger
  • onion
  • garlic
  • pepper

First, boil the sampalok or tamarind. While that's boiling, sear the chicken in oil until it turns a little brown. When the chicken's flavor mixes with the oil after searing, remove the chicken and saute the chopped garlic, onion and ginger in the oil.

When the ingredients are properly cooked, add the chicken back again and mix in the fish sauce and pepper. Then, add water into the ingredients and add the boiled sampalok through a colander.

Once everything's mixed together, add the malunggay leaves and you'll have your own sinampalukang manok! —Kaela Malig/JCB, GMA News
