Brazo de Mercedes Frappe? Ube Pastillas Sundae? McDonald's releases Filipino inspired desserts

By FRANCHESCA VIERNES,GMA News

Filipino favorites ube pastillas and brazo de mercedes are now actual dessert flavors at McDonald's.

There's the the Ube Pastillas Frappe and Ube Pastillas Sundae which are inspired by the flavored balls made of milk and coated with sugar. Paired with the rich combination of vanilla and cream, ube pastillas gets a fancier flavor that’s both familiar yet fresh and cool to the taste buds.

And then there's the Brazo Frappe, Brazo Sundae, and Iced Coffee Brazo, all inspired by the famous cake of rolled white meringue filled with custard. How did McDo get their items to taste like cake? Through a brazo-flavored syrup that's doused generously on the items.

The idea is downright peculiar, we know, so we just had to try! We sampled the frappe and sundae and while it does taste like brazo de mercedes, the two items are practically the same, with lots of ice in the frappe being the definitive difference of the two.

Available for a limited time, the McDonald’s Ube Pastillas and Brazo desserts are available through dine-in, take out, ride-thru, or delivery. Sundaes are P38, iced coffee at P59 and frappes at P159. — LA, GMA News
