The way we celebrate special occasions has changed for many, but what does stay the same is the love for food and spending time with family. Kapuso stars are celebrating their Christmas break a little differently this year, and we can learn a tip or two from them on how to make things extra special despite these changes.

Beauty Gonzales turns a simple celebration into something special

Surprises are what have filled Beauty Gonzales’ year. Even though these surprises haven’t all been good, she has found how to appreciate life more in the face of challenges and changes.

Beauty embraces a big change in her career as she is now one of the newest Kapuso stars! It is a new beginning for her and navigating a new environment, people, and community is such an exciting time. Yet in the middle of this, a challenge came along when her husband had to battle COVID. He has since recovered and is doing well, yet it has shown her how each day must be valued, no matter how simple.

Beauty and her family would always travel during the holidays but this year will be simpler and devoted to rest and recovery of both body and mind. With the challenges of the year, they have found the value of celebrating everyday things, because finding the beauty in the ordinary turns each moment into something special.

This Christmas, Beauty turns something that seems ordinary into something celebratory! Her favorite Chicken Adobo is given the special treatment with the ingredient that makes it a special Christmas dish.

NUTRI SARAP CHRISTMAS ADOBO

Ingredients:
1 k chicken parts
1/4 tasang toyo
5 pirasong bawang, chopped
3 kutsarang mantika 
1 1/2 tasang tubig
1 pirasong Knorr Chicken Cube
3 pirasong dahon ng laurel
1 kutsaritang pamintang buo
1/8 tasang sukang puti
1 kutsaritang asukal
Optional: 30g kale or spinach

1.Pagsamasamahin ang manok, toyo at bawang sa isang bowl. Haluin at ibabad sa loob ng isang oras.
2.Iprito ang marinated chicken. At pagkatapos ilagay na ang natitirang sabaw mula sa marinade. Isama ang bawang. Dagdagan ng tubig at pakuluin.
3.Ilagay ang Knorr Chicken Cube, tuyong dahon ng laurel at pamintang buo. Hayaang kumulo sa loob ng 30 minuto o hanggang sa lumambot na ang manok.
4.Ilagay ang suka, haluin at lutuin pa ng mga 10 minuto.
5.Ilagay ang asukal.
6.Ihain na may kasamang kanin.

Mikee Quintos creates a white Christmas experience at home

Amid busy schedules and a fast-paced life, taking a trip to experience a new city or town with her family was something Mikee Quintos looked forward to every Christmas break.

Like many of us who look forward to Christmas vacation to be with our families and loved ones, Mikee, one of the most sought-after Kapuso female leads, would always look forward to traveling with her family during this season. It was when she could take time off work and go on an adventure with her entire family, when they could enjoy each other’s company unhampered by the stresses of work.

Due to the pandemic, they have decided to enjoy the comforts of home instead, but this doesn’t mean they will love their vacation any less! This year, Mikee takes time off to cook for them and share this new experience through a Carbonara that’s one part Pinoy Italian, one part creamy white Christmas, and definitely delicious!

NUTRI-SARAP CHRISTMAS CARBONARA

Ingredients:
300 g spaghetti noodles
100 g bacon, hiniwa ng ½ inch na haba
1 kutsarang mantekilya
3 butil na bawang, chopped
½ tasa button mushrooms, sliced
¼ tasa all-purpose flour
1 pack (38 g) Knorr Cream of Mushroom, tunawin sa 3 tasang tubig
1 – ½ tasa all-purpose cream
asin at paminta
Parmesan Cheese
Optional: 1 tali spinach leaves

1.Lutuin ang spaghetti noodles ayon sa nakasulat sa lalagyan nito.
2.Lutuin ang bacon hanggang sa maging crispy ito. Itabi.
3.Dagdagan ng mantekilya ang pinagprituhan ng bacon at dito igisa ang bawang.
4.Idagdag ang button mushrooms at all-purpose flour. Haluin mabuti.
5.Tunawin muna sa tubig ang Knorr Cream of Mushroom at saka ito isalin sa niluluto. Pakuluin sa mahinang apoy hanggang maging creamy ang sauce.
6.Ilagay ang all-purpose cream. Idagdag ang spinach leaves. Haluin. Siguraduhing mahina ang apoy habang hinahalo ng dahan-dahan para mag-mix ang cream.
7.Alisin sa apoy at i-toss na ang sauce sa pinakuluang spaghetti noodles. Ilagay sa ibabaw ang crispy bacon at parmesan cheese.

Pancho Magno, a new dad learning a new skill for Baby Skye

One of the biggest blessings this year is having your family safe and sound. This is what Kapuso Pancho Magno is thankful for, and it is his wish for every family too. Becoming a new dad during the pandemic has surely brought him unexpected challenges, but also so much happiness. Baby Skye continues to bring them richer and more joyful experiences, especially during the holiday season.

Pancho continues to learn what is important in life and in loving, as he continues to dote on his son. As Christmas approaches, he finds time to take care of him and is more than happy to be able to cook for his family as he learns how to make new dishes!

Tuesday Vargas keeps long distance celebrations full of love

Christmas gatherings may not be as big or as easy as before, but we will always find ways to make it just as enjoyable and meaningful. Many of us have faced difficulties during the pandemic but Christmas will still mean showing family how much we value them no matter how far away they may be.

Tuesday Vargas has her plate full most of the time taking care of her family and managing a career and business. When Christmas comes along, she makes sure to take a break, talk, and share a meal with close relatives and family overseas during times when they cannot all be face to face. All this is done online through computer screens and internet connections and, despite the seemingly cold technology, there is warmth and love and a table where they can all eat ‘together’.

Tuesday makes sure to still prepare the things they love to eat, and because her family loves seafood, her Christmas dish will be Sinigang na Salmon and hopes that even online her loved ones can feel the care put into it.
