Yasmien Kurdi joins LoveYourself as an ambassador for the ‘Fit To Love’ campaign

On ‘Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan Ka,’ Yasmien Kurdi plays a person living with HIV, a role that isn’t very far from real life.

Yasmien really advocates for HIV awareness.

“If we are not infected with HIV, we are still affected by it,” Yasmien said. “The advocacy is to promote love and acceptance with HIV. We can fight and conquer the virus.”

She was recently named the chief ambassador of LoveYourself’s “Fit to Love” campaign, a spin off to LoveYourself’s annual photoshoot for a cause.

“Fit to Love calls for inclusivity of all supporters and allies that no matter what their size, shape or HIV status is, they can show the world an inspiring outlook towards their sexual, mental, and physical health,” LoveYourself Executive Director Ronivin G. Pagtakhan said.

From encouraging individuals to capitalize on self-worth and initiate ripples of positive change, Fit to Love  would like to inspire individuals to express a variety of ways how they are fit to love others and themselves.”

Fit to Love is set on March 17 & 18. You can join the cause by registering on the website. For P1,000, you get a shirt to be worn for the photo shoot, hair and makeup services, and a digital copy of your portrait.

According to the press statement, "A wider support to the HIV cause could help the country reduce the number of new HIV infection which now scores 31 incidences per day according to the latest Department of Health-Epidemiology Bureau report.

In December 2017 alone, a total of 992 individuals were diagnosed to have contracted HIV, 50% of which is falling under the 25-34-year age group, while 33% were aged 15-24 years old." — LA, GMA News
