This video will help you calm down, reduce your anxieties, and make you feel less alone

No doubt about it: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-2019) and the subsequent lockdowns imposed by governments all over the world to arrest it has left a lot of us anxious, afraid, worried, and some even literally alone.

So the video "Kalmahan Mo Lang" by t-shirt brand Linya-Linya couldn't have come at a better time. Released on social media Saturday, the animated video serves a reminder to everybody to get off their worried minds if only for a bit, to notice the calm that's taken over our surroundings, and most importantly to breathe.

It starts with guided breathing, a popular meditation technique, and continues with gentle prompts to notice little wonders of our every day: the cool breeze coming into our window, the streets turning quiet, the twinkling stars and the moon in the night sky. It features several characters from the t-shirt brand that some of us may be familiar with.

"We wanted to remind Filipinos to take a breather and keep calm amid the pandemic," Linya-Linya said in a statement. "Our film is about facing the anxieties and challenges of what's ahead of us. A message from Linya-Linya that although we are confined alone in our own private spaces, we're all in this together."

Speaking to GMA News Online, Linya-Linya's creative director Ali Sangalang shared that the idea to use breathing and meditation exercises came from Justin Bala, one of the writers from the team. They consulted with a psychologist first before developing the story.

Helping with the animation and video production were Highball Studios, Studio V, and Hit Productions.

"All in all, the animated film was created by 27 individuals all stuck in their own homes," Sangalang continued, adding it took them "over a month to complete" the film.

According to Sangalang, Linya-Linya is looking to create more of such initiatives. "Linya-Linya is not just a shirt brand," he said. "We are content creators aiming to connect to fellow Filipinos, bring joy and provide inspiration and hope."

And provide inspiration and hope, they seemed to have done with "Kalmahan Mo Lang." On Facebook, the animated short has already been viewed more than 30,000 times and has generated over 1,000 shares and more than 2,000 reactions as of writing. — LA, GMA News
