Virus-proof your home

Practicing safety measures with discipline rewards you in the long run. There are simple actions that can prevent sickness and infection. The ongoing pandemic has led many people scrambling for ways to keep themselves healthy since staying safe is now everyone’s number one priority. Protect yourself and others by following these easy but effective safety protocols:

Wear your mask properly

Taking steps to avoid sickness does not have to be complicated - like wearing a mask. If a mask is worn properly, it can help lower the risk of infection and transmission of diseases. For maximum protection, make sure that your mask covers your nose, mouth, and chin. Do not touch the outside of the mask at all times as it might be contaminated already. Disinfect your hands immediately if you had made contact with it. When removing your mask, tug it by the strings on your ears and dispose properly. Throw it in the trash if you are using a medical mask. For reusable cloth masks, wash it immediately after use. There are different kinds of masks; educating yourself of its proper use and disposal can go a long way.

Disinfect thoroughly

Viruses can also be transmitted through surfaces and other objects. Always assume that once you go outside, everything you bring back home is already contaminated. Before going inside your house, throw your used clothes in a separate bag to be washed. Disinfect your bag, wallet, and everything you brought outside, with alcohol. Sanitize the soles of your footwear as well. Make your very own footbath by mixing a cleaning solution with water and setting it aside in a shallow but wide pan.

Practice minimum contact

A virus spreads easily upon close contact with other people. Going outside may be unavoidable so take extra safety measures for yourself and for others. Buy yourself an anti-contact tool to prevent touching surfaces like elevator buttons, door handles, and ATM keypads. To practice physical distancing properly, make sure you are at least 2 arms’ length from everybody else at all times.

Stay Informed

The internet allows a multitude of resources - both reliable and fake. Like diseases, fake news can also be easily spread. Always make sure to double check your facts before sharing. Verify if your sources can be trusted. Think before your click to protect yourself from information that may be harmful to your health.
