Chito Miranda shares 3 lessons on handling money, including 'investing' on wife Neri

Chito Miranda shared some of financial lessons he's learned through the years, saying one thing he did was "invest" on his wife Neri.

On Instagram, Chito posted a photo of himself beside a piece of land, which he said Neri bought for him.

"Save what you earn and spend what is left, instead of saving what is left after spending what you earn," Chito wrote in the caption of his post.

Chito said this is the most important lesson he has learned when it comes to handling money.

"The 2nd was not to put all my eggs in one basket," he continued.

Chito admitted to not having that mindset before, always saying no to business opportunities.

"Dati, whenever I was asked to invest sa isang negosyo, I'd say no because wala akong time para tutukan yung business, because I felt that I needed to focus all my energy sa Parokya since it was my primary source of income, and ang plano ko lang was tumugtog at mag-ipon," he wrote.

Chito said someone told him to diversify his investments and sources of income, "para kung may mawalang isa, may iba akong mapagkukunan ng pera."

Chito said he proved this to be true especially amid the lockdown when all of their gigs were cancelled.

"Kung umasa lang ako sa pagbabanda, wala sana akong ibang mapagkukunan to provide for my family, aside sa ipon na sobrang bilis ma-ubos kung hindi nare-replenish," he said.

Chito said another thing he did was "'invest' in my wife...not necessarily financially, but more of yung time and support she needed for her to succeed on her own."

He said he taught Neri how to save and invest all while giving her the support she needs so she can accomplish her personal goals.

"Instead of simply saying 'ako na bahala sa lahat...asikasuhin mo na lang yung bahay,' whenever possible, I would say, "'ko muna dito sa bahay...asikasuhin mo yung mga kelangan mo gawin', which gave her the time and energy to focus on her goals," he said.

Chito said Neri now earns more than him even before their gigs were cancelled.

"At nung tumigil yung tugtugan, at least hindi ako masyado na-stress dahil aside from the fact na nakagawa ako ng mga secondary sources of income, alam ko na kaya kaming buhayin ng asawa ko sa pamamagitan ng pagbenta ng tuyo, suka, kape, at beddings, pam-bed and breakfast lang eh hahaha!" he wrote.

Chito said he is proud to say that he is still the provider but he is prouder for his wife Neri "dahil sobrang laking tulong niya sa amin because of her online businesses."

Chito credits Neri for continuing his plans that were put on hold due to the pandemic. This included buying the piece of land he showed in the photo.

"Binili niya para sa akin. 'Eto yung bunga ng pagiging maingat at wais ko sa pera, at pagiging supportive na husband," he wrote.

"Kumbaga sa zombie apocalypse, mas mabuti nang dalawang kayong magaling makipaglaban, kesa sa mag-isa ka lang," he added. — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
