Are growing moles cancerous?

Growing moles are not necessarily cancerous, Dr. Dave Ampil II said in a recent episode of Pinoy MD.

"But it could be a sign that the mole is transforming into cancer," the doctor clarified in Filipino.

If you notice a mole growing, it's best to visit a doctor to find out of the growth is indeed suspicious. "If it's suspicious, kailangan matanggal yung nunal at ma-biopsy," he continued.

According to Ampil, it is only through a biopsy that you'll know if the growing mole is indeed cancerous.

If the moles grow as large as grapes and would ache on certain days, they might actually be called Epidermal Nevus, "development congenital abnormality" that's also not necessarily cancerous. — LA, GMA News
