Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcacid now fully vaccinated vs. COVID-19

Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid are now among the Filipino celebrities who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

According to their Instagram posts on Wednesday, the couple have each received a second dose of the Sinovac vaccine in Quezon City.

Both captioned their photos with a message urging others to get vaccinated.

“I encourage all of you to have yours too. For us to achieve herd immunity at least 70 to 80 % of our population need to be vaccinated,” Regine said.

“This is the only way we can all go back to our normal lives. God bless po,” she added.

Ogie admitted that they hesitated at first, but eventually made the decision for the sake of their family.

"Alam natin na marami pa rin ang nagdadalawang isip magpabakuna (We all know a lot of people are still thinking twice about getting vaccinated)," he said.

"Noong una ay Pfizer ang akala naming mahusay nguni’t sa aming mga nabasa pagkatapos ay kung ano ang ibigay yun ang pinakamabisa. Sinovac ang natoka sa amin at so far so good (At first, we thought Pfizer would be best, but we eventually learned that whatever would be given to us would be the most effective)," he added.

After getting injected with Sinovac, Alcasid said things were "so far so good."

"Naisip ko ang pamilya ko, at ang mga katrabaho ko (I thought about my family and my co-workers)," he said. "Kaya ako nagpabakuna, hindi lang para sa sarili ko, kundi para sa nakararami (That's why I got vaccinated. It's not just for myself, but for the benefit of everyone else)."

Regine and Ogie have been married since 2010.

Ogie had two daughters with former wife Michelle van Eimeren named Sarah and Leila, and one son with Regine named Nate. —Margaret Claire Layug/JCB, GMA News
