Here’s how to cure an-an and get rid of skin scars caused by burns

Looking for a solution to cure your an-an or get rid of your skin scars caused by burns?

In an episode of “Pinoy MD,” Dr. Jean Marquez said an-an and skin burns can first be given a solution at home through safe products.

An-an

An-an or tinea versicolor is a fungal or yeast infection that can be cured by soaps or shampoos "that have ketoconazole and miconazole,” she said in a mix of English and Filipino.

Marquez added that products that have herbs and natural ingredients like tea tree and eucalyptus in them can also help cure the infection.

Good hygiene and a strong immune system are very important and for the best solution, it is still necessary to go see a professional, who can also prescribe the needed cure such as creams or lotions.

Meanwhile, Marquez said burns take time and can last for about six weeks to three months before it fully recovers.

To help with the healing, dermatologists recommend using moisturizers and anti-redness creams “that can help heal the skin faster.”

“Those are the ones we call arnica gels, the anti-redness gels or creams in the market,” she said in a mix of English and Filipino.

When it fully recovers and is still dark, it can be whitened through creams or pigment lasers. It can also be darkened when it’s too white, to match the area surrounding the scar.

Given that healing takes time, Marquez has this to say: “Be patient. Moisturize the area first and then go to a dermatologist.” — Franchesca Viernes/LA, GMA News
