LANY is Spotify’s most streamed artist of 2018 in the Philippines

And the year-enders have arrived!

Spotify just wrapped up 2018, and according to the music streaming site, American band LANY is the most streamed artist of 2018 in the Philippines.

The frequent Manila visitors – LANY had a back-to-back show at the Araneta Coliseum in April and a series of mall shows in August – were followed by local artist Moira Dela Torre and Ed Sheeran, who was also in the country last April.

Completing the list of top five most streamed artists in the Philippines are K-pop group BTS and Maroon 5.

Among Philippine users, LANY was also the most-streamed group. Moira was the most streamed female artist and the most-streamed local local artist, while Ed Sheeran was declared the most streamed male artist in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, local hits dominate the list of Top 5 most streamed tracks. “Mundo” by IV of Spades is the most streamed song of 2018, followed by Ben&Ben’s “Kathang Isip.” Dua Lipa’s “IDGAF,” Moira Dela Torre’s “Tagpuan” and “The Middle” by Zedd, Maren Morris and Grey complete the list.

From the global perspective, Canadian R&B artist Drake was the most streamed artist. Last year’s top-streamed artist, Ed Sheeran, dropped to fifth place. Completing the list are Post Malone, XXXTentacion, and J Balvin.

Drake also topped the list for most streamed track with his single “God’s Plan” sitting pretty at number 1, while his “In My Feelings” is the 5th most streamed track globally. Post Malone had two hits in the five-point list, “Rockstar” and “Psycho”. Completing the list is XXXTentacion’s “Sad!”
