Mineski Global raises almost 500k from 'Lockdown Games'


Mineski Global has raised almost half a million from its staging of the "Lockdown Games."

In a press release, Mineski announced  that they collected P460,000 from players, esports partners, and viewers of the gaming stream on their Facebook page.

The proceeds will be donated to the Philippine General Hospital Medical Foundation to help medical frontliners battling the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The event aims to raise a total of P1 million.

“We are thankful for the generosity and kindness of the esports community to the Philippine General Hospital," said Dr. Jonas Del Rosario, spokesperson and public affairs coordinator of PGH. "Your donation will go a long way in empowering our frontliners against COVID-19.” 

On Monday, PBA stars June Mar Fajardo, Marc Pingris, Japeth Aguilar, and Kiefer Ravena will play DoTA 2 to help the cause.

Earlier, esport athletes competed in Marvel Super Wars and Call of Duty.

As of Wednesday, the Philippines has 2,633 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 107 deaths and 51 recoveries. --MGP, GMA News
