Cinemas allowed to operate under MGCQ, but only at 50 percent seating capacity

According to the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), cinemas will be allowed to operate under the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) but only at 50 percent seating capacity.

Although cinemas would reopen, it would be difficult to encourage more people to watch movies again, said Chairperson Liza Diño in an interview with Super Radyo DzBB on Tuesday.

“It’s one thing to open, it's another to make the audience actually watch in the cinemas,” she said. “Mahirap cinemas na magrecoup. Sanayin ang audience to feel comfortable na manood sa sine.”

Diño suggested that an efficient information campaign should be implemented to let the public know that cinemas take their safety and health seriously and will act as such. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
