Here’s how ‘New Normal: Survival Guide’ hosts are shooting their own scenes at home

Even celebrities and television personalities are adjusting to a work-from-home setup!

During the media conference for “New Normal: Survival Guide” on Tuesday, hosts Rovilson Fernandez, Tonipet Gaba, and Drew Arellano said they’re their own director of photography, cameraman, and lighting crew for the new series.

“We’re everything else, the lighting, the DOP, glam team ... It’s challenging for us. We got to shoot it ourselves,” said Rovilson.

“We’re using smartphones lang eh, that’s the whole idea. Nothing extravagant,” said Tonipet.

According to Rovilson, it would take just 1 day to shoot many episodes for “Ang Pinaka,” but for the “New Normal: Survival Guide,” one episode took him 2-3 days to shoot.

Although Tonipet said that he missed the crew and the camaraderie at sets, he’s still thankful for the opportunity to shoot at home.

There may be challenges, but Rovilson said that by doing things on his own, he also got to relearn the craft he loved.

Both Rovilson and Tonipet are set to host the “Home Work” segment for the “New Normal: Survival Guide” series, which will talk about different life hacks and quarantine tips people may need, from doing their own laundry to grooming their pets by themselves.

Drew, meanwhile, will host “Family Time,” which will deal with parenting tips as well as ways to deal with love and relationships.

“New Normal: Survival Guide” is GMA News and Public Affairs’ newest series of shows that hope to help Filipinos cope amid the pandemic.

Featured hosts are Winnie Monsod on “Newsmakers” every Monday; Kara David on “Bright Side” every Tuesday; Susan Enriquez on “Pera Paraan” every Wednesday; Rovilson and Tonipet on “Home Work” every Thursday; and Drew on “Family Time” every Friday. – RC, GMA News
