Is 'Kingdom' having a prequel starring Jun Ji Hyun?

Korean zombie series "Kingdom" has left fans wanting more after the cameo of Jun Ji Hyun at the end of its second season.

If reports are to be believed, it looks like they may see more of the Korean actress, who was known for her role in "My Sassy Girl."

Citing  a report from Munhwa Ilbo, Soompi

said "Kingdom" is preparing to launch a prequel starring Jun Ji Hyun.

According to the report, the prequel will center around Jun Ji Hyun's character Ah Shin and how she became a warrior.

"It was difficult for the lead actors of the first two seasons of 'Kingdom' to immediately start filming for the third season due to scheduling conflicts, so the continuation of their story after season two will probably come in two or three years," a source was quoted as saying.

"We will first be bringing the prequel story, where Jun Ji Hyun will be joined by a mostly-new cast of characters," the source said.

Citing a Star News report, Soompi said the prequel will be a 70-minute short film. Filming is set to start in October.

However, Soompi also reported that a Netflix source said "nothing has been decided yet on future plans for 'Kingdom.'"

"There's nothing we can confirm as of now, including the lead actors, screenwriter, or director. It hasn't even been decided whether there will be a prequel or not," the source added. â€”Jannielyn Bigtas/MGP, GMA News
