'Mulan' to premiere on Disney+ this September

Disney is set to release the highly anticipated live-action remake of "Mulan" on Disney+ this September 4th.

However, consumers will have to pay a fee of $29.99 to access the movie in the streaming app.

In countries and regions where Disney+ is not available, "Mulan" will push through with its theatrical release on the same date — provided that cinemas are open amid the coronavirus pandemic.

, Disney’s CEO Bob Chapek said the pandemic forced them to consider "alternative ways" to bring content to their consumers.

He made the announcement during the company's quarterly earnings call in which Disney revealed that it had a net loss of nearly $5 billion in the third quarter this year.

"Mulan" was scheduled to reach theaters in March but its release has been postponed several times as many movie theaters remain closed to help keep the novel coronavirus from spreading. It had most recently been set to debut on August 21.

In July, Disney announced that it postponed the debut of the film indefinitely.
