How Ate Gay comes up with her hilarious mash-ups

Ate Gay has been making thousands of netizens laugh through her hilarious mashups, and on "Unang Hirit" Tuesday, the comedian and TV host showed off her incredible ability to match one similar-sounding song to another.

During the interview, Ate Gay revealed that some of her out-of-this world mashups were actually suggestions from friends.

"Naiisip ko minsan, minsan naman bigay ng mga kasama ko sa work, kasi alam naman nila na sa 'kin lang naman nababagay," she told host Suzi Entrata.

According to Ate Gay, some mashups weren't even that funny, but people say it was her signature style of delivery make them work.

"Kasi, actually, hindi naman daw talaga nakakatawa pero pag ako daw ang nag-deliver, parang nakakatawa siya; parang ganon, kaya binibigay nila sa 'kin," she added.

Ate Gay also took the opportunity to express her gratitude, especially since she never expected her videos to be so popular on the internet.

"Nako, talagang nagulat ako noon. Tsaka nagpapasalamat ako sa mga nakakaalala, dahil magaganda naman 'yung mga mensahe (that I receive) habang nagte-trending siya, sa Twitter o kung saan-saan man," she said.

Ate Gay is determined to keep bringing joy through her videos, especially during the COVID-19 crisis.

"Lagi kong ginagawa ito lalo na ngayong quarantine kasi kailangan ng mga tao ngayon na ngumiti tumawa kaya, kahit kaunti ay nakakakadamdam naman ako at nakakatulog naman ako sa pagpapasaya, kahit maliit na bagay lang," she said. — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
