Jessica Soho, other Kapuso broadcast journalists to help teachers prepare for DepEd TV lessons

Jessica Soho and other Kapuso broadcast journalists have been tapped to help teachers prepare to deliver their lessons in front of the camera for DepEd TV this school year.

According to Mariz Umali's report on "24 Oras," Arnold Clavio, Kara David, Sandra Aguinaldo, and Atom Araullo are also among those chosen to guide the educators in navigating the new normal.

The Department of Education has so far selected 107 teacher-broadcasters who will appear on their educational channels. They plan to increase this number to 198 in the coming weeks and eventually reach 300.

"Hindi ko alam kung may karapatan ang mga journalist na katulad ko na magturo sa inyo. Paano pa ba tuturuan ang mga nagtuturo?" Soho addressed the teachers in a pep talk.

The multi-awarded broadcaster, who shared that she came from a family of educators, said teaching and journalism are not so different from each other.

"Journalists have three basic functions or tasks: to inform, to enlighten, and like you dear teachers, to educate," she said. "We also have the same method of teaching: by telling stories."

GMA's two digital channels are among the networks which will air the lessons, which will be in English and in Filipino.

Each episode will have a 20 minutes lecture and five minutes break. The episodes will air on Monday to Saturday from 7 am to 7 pm, with different time slots for each grade level.
