Ken Chan stresses importance of saving money during pandemic

By JANNIELYN ANN BIGTAS,GMA News

Ken Chan has said that if there’s anything he has learned amid the quarantine due to the pandemic, it is to save money.

In a virtual interview with the press for singing competition “The Clash,” host Ken shared what he had learned in the past months.

“Ang pinaka-natutunan ko ngayon magtipid, ’yun po talaga ang kailangan po talaga. Ang na-realize ko dahil sa pandemic, kailangan talagang matindi at may panglaban ka na savings,” Ken told reporters.

According to Ken, it’s better to be prepared in case a pandemic happens again in the future.

“Kasi naniniwala ako, etong pandemic na ganito, ’wag naman sana pero feel ko mauulit pa ulit ito in the future. So kailangan talaga na meron kang matinding savings para sa ’yo and para sa family mo,” he said.

“’Yun ’yung talagang na-realize ko na kailangan talagang mag-save talaga para may panlaban ka sa mga ganitong sitwasyon,” he added.

The Kapuso actor said it wasn’t hard for him to save money because he had been doing it even before the pandemic.

“Ako po talagang noon pa man kahit walang pandemic matipid po talaga ako,” he said.

“Kung ano lang ’yung dapat na kailangan sa bahay, sa sarili ko most of the time, sa pagkain po talaga, ako doon ako hindi nagtitipid,” he said.

Ken said while he didn’t buy a lot of clothes and other material things, he was OK with spending money on food.

“’Pag pagkain kasi for me ... sa ibang bagay sobra po akong nagtitipid talaga, like sa mga material na bagay, hindi po ako masyado bumibili ng damit ko, ng gadgets ko, hindi ako maluho sa sarili ko noon pa man pero mas ngayon,” he said.

“The Clash” Season 3 will premiere Oct. 3 with Ken and Rita Daniela as Journey Hosts and Rayver Cruz and Julie Anne San Jose as The Clash Masters.

Lani Misalucha, Christian Bautista, and Ai Ai delas Alas, meanwhile, will serve as judges on the show.

The first grand winner of “The Clash” is Golden Canedo, and the second is Jeremiah Tiangco. – RC, GMA News
