'Doraemon' voice actor Tomita Kosei passes away at 84


"Doraemon" Japanese voice actor Tomita Kosei has passed away at 84 years old.

According to The Star, his agency announced that the voice actor died from stroke last September 27.

"Our company’s Tomita Kosei (age of death, 84) passed away on September 27 in the second year of Reiwa (2020) due to a stroke," The Star quoted a statement on the agency's website. 

The report traced Tomita's voice acting career, starting in 1963 and lending his voice in more than 50 anime series and films.

His most renowned work is voicing the iconic character "Doraemon" in 1973. He was later replaced by Masako Nozawa. — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
