Disney unveils first trailer for ‘Raya and the Last Dragon’

Get ready to conquer anything with Disney’s first ever Southeast Asian princess!

In a tweet on Wednesday, Disney unveiled the first trailer of “Raya and the Last Dragon,” giving us a hint of the legendary adventure waiting to be conquered by our new warrior.

In the video, not only can we see Raya and her adorable animal sidekick, TukTuk, searching for the last dragon to restore peace as people have become more divided than ever, but we can also see her battling against a masked enemy with what appears to be a pair of arnis sticks!

“Raya and the Last Dragon” will take place in the fantasy world of Kumandra, where humans and dragons used to live in harmony.

However, when Druun, sinister monsters, threatened the land, dragons sacrificed themselves to save the humans. Five hundred years later, the same monsters have come back and Raya is tasked to track down the last dragon to stop the Druun forever.

Kelly Marie Tran will voice Raya and Awkwafina will do the same for Sisu, the dragon.

Directed by Don Hall and Carlos López Estrada, the film is set to be released in theaters March 2021. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
