Justin Bieber jokes 'Who's Shawn Mendes?' ahead of collab song release

In a 2015 radio interview, Justin Bieber claimed he didn't know who Shawn Mendes was.

The hot issue, which sent two fandoms into a frenzy five years ago, seems to be behind them now as the two Canadian pop stars are about to release a song together called “Monster.”

Justin and Shawn had a friendly tweet exchange on November 18, a few days ahead of the release of their collab.

Justin posted a clip from his controversial radio interview and tagged Shawn saying: “Who’s @ShawnMendes?”

Shawn, on the other hand, responded by tagging Justin in a photo of Canadian child actor Jacob Tremblay.

“You don’t remember us taking this pic together?” Shawn asked Justin in the tweet.

According to reports, Shawn had once credited Justin for inspiring him to become a singer, noting that the former was only nine when the latter released his hit single "One Time."

Their song collab “Monster” is scheduled to drop Friday, November 20 in the US, and it will appear on Shawn’s upcoming album, “Wonder,” due Dec. 4. —Margaret Claire Layug/JCB, GMA News
